 A Simple Lotus Solution.

The Lotus Express introduces a revolutionary way to grow lotus. The containerized plants are available year round, eliminating the problems commonly associated with growing lotus from tubers. No more timing your purchases to match the grower's weather conditions, now you can offer them when your weather is suitable. With no tubers to handle, broken growing tips and losses are a thing of the past.

Uniform sized containers allow you to plant the lotus in any size pot, rather than scrambling to find a pot large enough for an oversized tuber….Or, just remove the top from the container, add water and sell the product right off your display rack with minimal labor costs....Or, the customer can pot their own lotus presenting additional sales opportunities for a larger pot, soil, and fertilizer. Shelf life is measured in months, not weeks.

The best part is that the small container packs a surprisingly big punch. Once they are potted, the plants can double their size every week and samples installed in small ponds bloomed in as little as five weeks.

The lotus plants will be shipped in plastic containers with lids. The water is drained before shipping to reduce freight costs, the aerial leaves carefully folded into the container and packing material added before the lid is attached. The growing medium is bound by the roots and is undisturbed by handling during shipping.

When your containers arrive, you have two choices:

You can transfer the plants to a larger container of your choice. The easiest way to do this is to leave a depression about the size and shape of the original container when you fill the new home with soil. The plants can be removed from the shipping container as a unit by inverting it and carefully allowing the soil and roots to fall out. Once you have them in hand, simply plant them in the depression and the lotus will continue growing with no transplant shock. There is no need to bareroot them and we advise against it.

If you wish, you may simply remove the lid and add water and they are ready to sell "as is" from your display. This is ideal for your customer that wants a lotus but has a container or pond already in mind.

Just be sure to monitor the water levels in the tubs on display so the soil doesn't dry out. For long term holding, it is advisable to feed them twice a month with a week solution of soluble fertilizer. Given some light and an occasional light feeding, the lotus will survive and grow for months without having to be planted.
